Porlwi - History in motion on the waterfront
MCB invites you to discover Port Louis harbour in another light during the 2016 Porlwi festival (2nd to 4th December). Following the Place d’Armes in 2015, MCB will transform another landmark of the capital into a spectacular attraction for a weekend.
« There will be a water screen, on which a video made by French agency MotionWip will be broadcast. This video depicts the sea journeys of all the men and women who arrived in Mauritius. Spectators will witness the journey at sea, with calm waters as well as rough seas during storms and cyclones. The video is in line with the “People” theme of this year’s edition. The harbour is the heart of Mauritius. This is where it all started, where all the people of various origins who coexist in Mauritius landed. The video contains a beautiful message: the social diversity of Mauritius is its main strength”, said art director Jérôme Couchart.
MCB is proud to be once again part of Porlwi, a festival which brings a new lease of life into Port Louis, whilst positioning it as a cultural capital. The history of MCB and of Port-Louis is intertwined since 1838 and it keeps getting richer and more wonderful. MCB has been anchored in Port Louis for 178 years and has actively participated in its evolution.
From the “Star and Key” of the Indian Ocean to the International Financial Centre, which is a real springboard strategically located between three continents… The Porlwi partnership also reflects MCB’s core values and its sustained commitment in favour of culture, arts and innovation, among others.
